White Belt Poker

My copy of “Internet Texas Holdem: Winning Strategies from an Internet Pro” by Matthew Hilger arrived yesterday.

The book looks even more dense than Lee Jones’ book. The layout is a little bit strange. There are questions on real hands, but the answer is right below the question, so you can see it straight away.

I’ll have to go into more detail once I’ve read more of the book. I don’t think there’s a great deal in here that isn’t covered in Lee Jones’ book though. But I could be wrong.

Deposited $40 at Party Poker last night and within 20 mins of sitting down I had an ace-high flush beaten by a straight flush made on the river! I posted the hand on the pokertips.org forum to see what people thought.

Not much else I could’ve done I think. I couldn’t throw away an ace-high flush. It was my first real experience of a bad beat.

I just paid $100 dollars from a credit card into an account at pokerroom.com.

At the current exchange rate, that’s about £53.

Just set up a Neteller account so that I can pay money in and get it out quickly. Still not quite sure how it all works, but it seems like Paypal.
